Oklahoma’s strong relations with Quebec
14 June 2012
Oklahoma’s strong trade relationship with Canada and its business links with Quebec’s aerospace sector were spotlighted by Governor Mary Fallin at a reception hosted June 14 by Consul General Andrew Parker and his wife, Sheryn, with the participation of the U.S. Commercial Service. The Governor was accompanied by First Gentleman Wade Christenson. Participants included business, academic and governmental leaders, many of them affiliated with Montreal’s Aerospace Cluster. Oklahoma is a major player in the U.S. aerospace sector with over 500 related companies operating in the state. It is also home to Tinker Air Force Base and several large commercial aviation maintenance facilities and is poised to release a strategic plan for its developing Unmanned Aerial Systems sector.
The event coincided with the Department of State’s first Global Economic Statecraft Day, highlighting the importance the U.S. government places on expanding opportunities for American firms doing business abroad and sharing information with foreign businesses considering investments in the U.S. On behalf of the Governor and her staff, we thank all the participants who helped make the Oklahoma reception a great success.
