In partnership with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal, the U.S. Consulate General was proud to support two master classes by dancers with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, Hope Boykin and Matthew Rushing. Each class of 25 young professional dancers and teachers warmed up and stretched before learning a few excerpts from the iconic choreography "Revelations". Alvin Ailey said that one of America's richest treasures was the cultural heritage of the African-American: "sometimes sorrowful, sometimes jubilant, but always hopeful." The enduring classic "Revelations" is a tribute to that heritage and to Ailey's genius. To learn more about the Ailey Arts In Education & Community Programs, please visit AlvinAiley.org.
